Here is a picture of my best friend in her new Kamik Ellie rain boots! She kept her feet dry while walking to class the other day in a massive down pour. They look great!
Kamik Kelly Women’s Rain Boot
April 27, 2010
I wore a great pair of the Kamik Kelly rain boots for a trip to NYC recently for a visit with friends. It was right after a snowstorm and the snow was melting like crazy. Walking the streets of New York with my rain boots on made the trip much more enjoyable knowing that when I stepped in those disgusting large cloudy puddles full of garbage and dirty street water, my feet would stay nice and dry. Not only are the Kamik Kelly rain boots waterproof, they have added warmth with a soft fleece lining and a knitted snow collar. While my black boots can be worn with any outfit, I am still looking forward to Kamik’s 2010 Winter Collection with more Kamik Kelly Color options.
Coachella Cool

Every year, the coolest of the cool all gather in the “City of Eternal Sunshine,” or also known as Coachella, California, for the Coachella Music and Arts Festival. The 3 day event takes place in the middle of a desert where a wide range of bands and singers perform and large sculptures are placed throughout the event. Many celebrities venture out to this festival for the music and the parties while wearing their coolest music festival threads.
This years most prominent trends seemed to be native prints, denim cut-offs paired with tough boots, military inspired jackets, rompers and nautical striped shirts were seen everywhere. There is nothing I love more than finding an excuse to wear boots after the fall and winter seasons. It looks as though this spring 2010 season, boots will be all the rage and I can’t wait!
For all of you summer music festival go-ers, some boots that I am LOVING right now are the Kamik Olivia’s in the Eggplant and Olive. Pair these boots with leggings or vintage cut off denim shorts to keep you nice and dry while standing in the crowds.
Style Can’t Be Bought
April 20, 2010
At a very young age I knew I had a “passion for fashion.” Running up and down the stairs as a toddler in my moms 4 inch stilettos was a piece of cake and, well, my parents knew my love for high end labels when I decided to snack on my mom’s tube of Chanel classic red lipstick. They knew right then and there, they had a fashion monster on their hands.
I had large dreams of somehow being involved with fashion my whole life. When it came time to apply to colleges, only one school was on my list, and that was of course The Fashion Institute of Technology. I was very bold in my decision and that was the only school I applied to. I will never forget the day I received the acceptance letter. I knew my life would never be the same. I arrived in New York City a week after my 18th Birthday to move into my dorm in Mid-Town Manhattan located right on Fashion Avenue. I was a girl from the small city of Binghamton ready to take on the world. Looking back on those young naive years, I am embarrassed by my ridiculous attitude. I thought I was Carrie Bradshaw and knew everything that needed to be known about fashion. Well, let’s just say the first day of classes I got an attitude adjustment real quick. My classes were filled with girls who had been draped in Louis Vuitton and Fendi since pre-school. This was not the kind of college where you show to 9 a.m class in sweats and a t-shirt. Everyday was a competition between all the fashionistas.
I was a big fish in a small pond in Binghamton with my fashion and style, but at F.I.T I was a very very small fish in the fashion game. I had to learn quickly how to be stylish without breaking the bank but staying in trend. I did this by exploring small boutiques, sample sales (every girls best friend in N.Y.C) and rummaging through vintage stores. I did develop a Boot addiction during my college years. Still to this day, my outfit never feels complete unless I have a pair of tall boots on. I was trying to find my very own personal style and my own voice. Don’t get me wrong, I did envy the girls that had daddy’s credit card and went on marathon shopping sprees at Saks and Bergdorfs without breaking a sweat, but that wasn’t my life. So when I say style can’t be bought, this means that wearing the most expensive clothing does not make you stylish, its how you put an outfit together.
Throughout my 4 years of living in New York City and attending F.I.T, I learned that money is not the root of style, its your own creativity and imagination that makes your style your very own. The goal for this Blog is to use my fashion knowledge to help the reader spot current trends, provide tips for finding high priced style on a budget, chatting with you about our favorite fashion topics, and of course, Boots!
